Vitamin C Brightening Serum
Over the Summer I invented a new Hyaluronic Acid serum with a special form of dermal-safe Vitamin C.
As you know, vitamin C is critical to healthy collagen, but many forms irritate the skin.
The cheaper L ascorbic acid for instance, can irritate the skin and oxidise. That’s why products made with it, change colour.
I’ve been testing a skin-safe version on my own skin, on a scar, and a scald from soapmaking. Both healed so much faster, ala Hogwarts-style incredible.
The special vitamin C is intended to brighten the complexion – it’s the special sodium ascorbyl phosphate (SAP) variety, that tackles acne! And guess what masknespots and zits, are just a new form of acne.
This SAP type Vitamin C is also a powerful antioxidant, protects skin against air pollution, cigarette smoke and UV.
This new silky serum helps to brighten, smooth, and deliver all-day hydration.
SAP type Vitamin C brightens and protects collagen
There’s elasticity-boosting hyaluronic acid, that plumps up fine lines around the mouth and eyes
and antioxidant Patchoulol calms skin due to it’s anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant, and anti-microbial properties.
It’s suitable for all skin types and feels ultra-lightweight.
This special formula effortlessly sinks into your skin—hydrating without leaving you feeling greasy.
Live up to your best skin potential with this fast-absorbing brightening serum, which can easily double as a lightweight moisturizer.
Why the skin needs Vitamin C?
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that is essential to life. It’s key to many bodily functions including immunity, healthy bones, teeth and skin. This is why after an illness, or stressful period, our skin can easily look grey, tired and drab from a lack of Vitamin C. Bruising easily or rough, bumpy skin are other indicators of deficiency.
Vitamin C also calms skin and promotes healthy collagen production.
When collagen is destroyed, skin sags and becomes lined and tired looking. A skin brightening serum brings bounce and firmness back to even the most tired skin.
This is why you need a Vitamin C skin brightening serum to combat dullness, dark spots, and discoloration.
What does it smell like?
I was instinctively drawn to an essential oil I rarely use: Patchouli. Yes, the hippy scent from the Summer of Love. Turns out, patchouli is a hero regarding collagen production, tissue regeneration and pain reduction. It speeds up wound healing, reduces scar tissue, acne and cracked skin. No wonder it worked on my skin. Emotionally, it reduces anxiety, stress and depression. Perfect for the 2020 rollercoaster!
Funny fact about Patchouli – the Caryophyllene in it, is also found in clove flowers, rosemary, hops, and hemp! The Patchoulol is an antioxidant.
What is the texture like?
This serum instantly makes your skin feel like velvet. No funny smells or consistency.
It’s designed to spread easily, and then sink in rapidly, to vanish, so that you can then layer on another product quickly.
However it works as a stand-alone moisturiser on days when you want a lightweight option, for instance if it’s hot and humid.
Obviously in Winter you should listen to your skin and apply a nourishing face cream to protect against drying winds and central heating.
So yes, adding a brightening serum to your skincare routine can give your complexion a boost and vibrancy.
